He sat there looking GUILELESS.
“What on earth is this?” Susie asked, with an air of incredulity.
“Chicken curry,’ replied Peanuts.
There he was, sitting at the table in full Chef’s outfit, including hat.
Peanuts, whom they had met at the local Scout Troop where Pete was a Leader, had been training to be a Chef at the local College, and Susie, never having tasted curry before, wanted to give it a go. Never one for very spicy foods, she had said that she did not want a strong curry. Peanuts had promised it woukd only be a mild curry.
They had made quite a big thing of this evening event. Peanuts was to give them the works. Best wine and all. They even took photographs of this great Chef at work in the kitchen.
Susie looked at Pete, the question still in her eyes.
“But I can’t taste anything,” she said. “Well, nothing like I thought I’d taste anyway.”
She looked again at Peanuts who was still looking totally innocent and unconcerned.
“I forgot to put the curry powder in,” said Peanuts, as if it was the most normal and natural thing in the world to make curry without curry powder.
