With thanks to Fandango
We have had a wrestling match this morning. Yes, we really have. With an or rather two, envelopes. We are in the middle of a General Election campaign here in the U. K. And because we are housebound we have been granted a postal vote. So this morning we have been filling the ballot forms. They were almost too big for the envelopes and they were such a tight fit that we thought we were going to ruin everything just getting them out of the envelopes and then back in again.
We now have the problem of getting them posted. We cannot get out to a post box and hubby has been trying all week to get someone official to come and get the papers from us. Everyone says that they are not allowed to do it. Even the party for whom we are voting will not come and get our papers. So at this moment we do not know what is going to happen. This morning we also rang up the Election Office in our town and they too say that they cannot help. So at this moment we know that we might not actually be able to vote in the General Election. We are livid.
I don’t blame you being livid, I would be too! I can’t believe no one will come get the papers! Disgraceful! ❤

Do you have any friends or family who can pick up your ballots and drop them off?

It is in the election rules that party workers are not allowed to collect envelopes. But they should have some provision for disabled people where a neutral person can post them for you.
Best wishes, Pete. x

Hi Pete. Thanks for that. I didn’t know. We kept on ringing the election office and they kept on telling us that they cannot do it. The council said they could not do anything and in the end, late yesterday someone from the election office said that they could do it aftr all and someone is coming this afternoon to pick up our ballot papers. What a struggle. We really really wanted to vot too but all is well now. I think we night be marginal here and that was why we were desperate to vote. Xx
