I have been thinking a lot! Ooops – red warning signs lol. I have been wondering why we write and if any of you would be prepared to share your reasons here.
WordPress has been an eye opener for me (errm, sorry folks cos as you know, I am blind – pun not intended lol). There is just so much variety in here. And I never expected it to end up as a Community, and to form friendships. That is real nice. When I signed up I did not even realise (silly me) that people could Like or leave comments! But it was a pleasant surprise.
Originally I simply wanted a place to display my poetry. I had self published books, but it was getting a bit too difficult to deal with doing that, so I got the idea of doing it as a Blog. It has been SO worthwhile.
My idea was not to write as therapy for myself, though maybe sometimes it does work out like that. My idea was simply to write poetry. I love to write in Form, and enjoy the challenge of writing different forms of poetry. I like to write dark poetry, poetry about light, happy poetry, funny poetry, and poetry about my own experiences. And of course, limericks. Since coming to WordPress though, I have written a few stories, some funny and some serious.
I could not get through my life now, without writing, as there is very little left that I can still do, due to my health condition. It has been a lifesaver for me.
I wonder why you write? I would love to know, if you would be prepared to share.
Much love to you all.

Writing for me is catholic, on WordPress I learn from others and I also get to develop my skills as a writer.

Funny you should ask that, as I muse upon that very issue in my last blog post:

Dorithy, thanks for responding. Yes, I think we all develop our writing skills in here. I certainly have. I have learned from others, and been inspired by others.

I think I’ve had a running, now writing, conversation with Life/God/the Universe since I can remember. When I started my blog I wasn’t so aware of this, just wanted to muse over teaching and learning as a blind teacher and student. But once you get out there, mingle with all the varied writers, feel the energy, taste the lingo, the discussions…well, you know, sweet friend, there’s a community out there of sensitive, wonder-filled souls which only makes the writing more fulfilling. Thanks for the question…blessings and love to you!

I’ve thumbed reflections on the Catholic readings, either daily or Sunday, often over the past few years. I shared them with people close to me. Some of them. I was encouraged to create the blog by those who read them (and love me for who I am). I chose to do so with the goal that someone I don’t know, will never meet, may take time to reflect on the Word in ways they never had before, and in so doing become closer to the God I know, the author of beauty and love, and His Son, my savior.

My mind rarely stops. I’m always writing it down in my head, eventually getting it on the computer. Writing is indeed therapeutic for many of us. Thanks for asking and God bless you.

I cannot not write. Sorry for the double negative. But that says it simply for me.

I started my blog for two main reasons : 1. To sell my books 2. To write about my love for music. Since than I have met so many awesome outstanding writers and people behind those writers. I enjoy reading and commenting on them.
I have been making some wonderful kind thoughtful sweet friends. Our peers have shown their human side and helped me and others create better products to post on here.
Lorraine, I do enjoy your posts all the time. You are one great writer my friend. Never stop writing use it as an escape to show what is inside of you.

Oh, bless you. Cwhat a beautiful and wonderful way for you to have started writing your lovely Blog. Actually, I must admit that I too was encouraged by someone, and at first, I thought it a mad idea. Who would read ME? Lol. It must have stewed within me for about a year, and then the idea started to grow. And I thought, βWhy notβ. And so here we are.
It is lovely to have met you, and to read your Blog. Keep going.

Aww, Joan. Thankyou so much for your lovely response. You know, you remind me of myself as a luttle child, walking down the long isolated lane to the farmhouse at night, with the milk checks and the milk bottles, me looking up at the stars in the dark sky and saying βNan, where is God.β She said she didnβt know, and told me to stop looking up at the sky and to watch the potholes lol. That continued forbthe rest of my life. Question after question after question of the Universe! The Universe must be fed up of me right now. Ha! Yes, there are beautiful souls in here Joan, and you are one of them. Thankyou for your friendship and love.

You are one of them too, sweet Lorraine – i feel blessed to have met you. I thought i would write stories about God but somehow started posting poems and it is you who encouraged me the first by saying they were “mystic” – i felt so blessed to open my heart. I will always be grateful to you – for your love and the depth of what you share in your writing. Thank you! :)

We walk hand in hand beneath that midnight sky, my darling friend…enduring mist and cloud, anticipating the appearance of stars and planets…even as we walk through our worldly tasks…never stop questioning, never stop looking upward and inward…love you!

I write because it is my purpose. I believe that the whisperings I hear are messages for other people and I am given the words to share it and the person that needs it will find it somehow.
It is also a great way to deal with some of my emotions in a healthy way. I have written poetry since I was young and write stories as well. A writer is a big part of who I am.
I also love reading what others write, because they teach me and this is a great community that we are part of.

I had to see the meaning as you used the word catholic here…it means including a wide variety of things; all-embracing. I learned something more as I used to think itβs a religion only.
